About Me

Hello K-3 Parents,
This year of teaching at Desert Star Elementary is very similar to my first teaching experience providing individualized support in a multi-level self-contained classroom as an instructional assistant at a school in my community. Their intelligences inspired me to continue my education and graduate in the year 2005 as a Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher. I am beginning my second year with the Avondale Elementary District.
Last year I provided Resource Support in the academic areas in English Language Arts and Math to 5th - 8th grade students at Copper Trails Elementary in and out of the general education classroom. I enjoyed teaching at Copper Trails, but I also found out that I missed teaching the younger students more. Before teaching I raised three children (2 wonderful sons and 1 beautiful daughter). I am married to my best friend Carlos and now we enjoy raising our only grandchild, Caitlyn Rose. I also have two dogs, Fred and Wilma which I rescued at my former school. They wandered on the school grounds where I took in my classroom and fell in love with "both" of them. They became a welcomed addition since our children are grown. I have also been fortunate to teach at schools that believe in the "Kids at Hope" philosophy, "that all students are capable of success". I am a life-long learner and "Treasure Hunter" and I am committed to find all the intelligences that lie within your child.
I am excited to be part of your child's learning years and will support their needs with your continued support!
